Mobile, Dextrous, and Social: expressive humanoid robots

Collaborators: Nick dePalma, Sigurður Örn, Jin Joo Lee, Jason Alonso

The MDS platform, which stands for mobile, dextrous, and social, is a humanoid robot that was designed to be able to naturally interact with people. I spent a few weeks working on Maddox, the newest MDS robot in the fleet. I wrote low-level linux drivers and calibration code for quick initialization of the robot's motor positions. Through working on MDS, I became familiar with the challenges of animating a highly-sophisticated humanoid, solving issues with high-level motion synthesis and low-level motor control.
